What's your story?
I grew up in Minnesota where I spent my winters shoveling the pond at the neighbors farm so I could ice skate with my brothers and sister. Although my ice skating skills were only enough to survive "crack the whip", my high school gym teacher convinced me to join the hockey team. The challenge of learning hockey and all the amazing people I met has kept me wanting to be involved in the hockey community ever since.
What inspired you to get involved with the GIF?
As a hockey player and coach I have experienced and witnessed the physical, mental, and social development of youth and adults as a result of ice sports, as well as the genuine support, friendships, and partnerships that are made on and off the ice. Over the past 8 years I have continued to find myself wanting to become more involved so joining the GIF team was a great opportunity to contribute to this great community.
How do you see the Ice Barn making a positive impact in our community?
I love that there is a place in the Gallatin Valley where all people of all ages are welcome to learn a new sport, perfect an activity they are already passionate about, or come support a person or team they care about. The Ice Barn is going to provide an opportunity for more people and more local businesses to be involved in this exciting community!
Any final thoughts?
I am excited to be a part of a project that is going to serve youth and adults of this community for many years to come!
