Matt Kline, Project manager
What's your story? I grew up in Buffalo, NY and yes, am a long suffering Sabres fan. My wife is from Bozeman and we returned to her hometown with our two boys (9 and 6) in 2013. I didn't skate growing up so hockey wasn't on my radar when I arrived in Bozeman. Then I met Jay Greene and he somehow convinced me that I needed t to give it a try. My family wasn't so easily convinced that a 42 year old should start a hockey "career". However, the decision to sign up for the Adult Hockey Skills program followed by joining a D3 team has been more rewarding than I ever could have imagined. I just completed my fourth season of hockey and have met and made friends with so many great people in our community as a result.
What inspired you to get involved with the GIF? I want to do what my friend Jay did for me. After all, this isn't about hockey, or figure skating, or curling, this is about people and our community. I am proud to be a member of it and I want to do all I can to help it grow. Another important point of inspiration is how welcoming our programs are for folks of any age and ability to join in the fun.
Any final thoughts? Thank you to everyone who has already done so much to build such a strong community at the rinks. I'm thrilled to continue the hard work you've already done and will do all I can to help foster your efforts. I look forward to seeing you at the rinks!
