Program and Community Impact

The only year-round ice rink in Montana, the Ice Barn will not only be an important asset for our local community, but a significant improvement of access to ice in our surrounding region. This enhanced capacity will allow GIF’s partners to significantly expand on-ice programs, events, and tournaments, especially with the advantage of two adjacent ice sheets. The Ice Barn will also be a boon to local tourism-based businesses, increasing the appeal of Bozeman to both skaters and their families as a destination for off-season ice hockey and figure skating camps, training, and events. And with additional ice time, the new facility would also be able to expand into new programs the community has requested, such as curling, broomball and sled hockey.

How will a second rink in Bozeman impact local hockey and figure skating programs?

Youth Hockey

  • BAHA’s youth hockey programs (ages 4-19) will add around 90 full-ice practices to the schedule and a minimum of 2 more weekend tournaments in Bozeman.

Figure Skating

  • The Bozeman Figure Skating Club will add more than 35 prime-time hours to their schedule, which will allow them to better accommodate individuals who participate in other winter activities such as skiing.

Adult Hockey

  • BAHA’s thriving adult league will add 120 games to its schedule, which means each HHL player will average at least 8 more games per season.
